Packing list
When you need to pack:
Below you can read about how to pack canoes and kayaks in the best possible way, as well as find a packing list to make sure you bring everything you need on the trip. We have also made a print-friendly version of the packing list, which you can find right HERE
Equipment and gear
We recommend that the luggage per person should \"only\" consist of 1 small bag and 1 large bag, 1 sleeping bag and a sleeping pad/air mattress. The small bag contains things that are needed during the sailing, which should be easy to access. The large bag (which is not a suitcase) contains everything else…
It is a really good idea to rent luggage barrels for the sailing and it is also a good investment to buy the waterproof bags that we sell in both 10 and 50 liters. For those who cannot leave their mobile phone safely at home, we strongly recommend that you purchase a waterproof smartphone case for the mobile phone, which comes with a cord so that it can hang safely around your neck. Always remember to bring transparent garbage bags (so you can always see the contents) to pack bags in. As well as for the waste that will always come on a sailing trip.
Packing the canoe
Make sure your luggage is distributed so that it does not roll.
It is also a good idea to tie a string around the individual pieces of luggage and attach the end of the string to the canoe. That way, you have control over all your things, if the accident should happen and the canoe capsizes.
Always remember to pack heavy items over the keel in the front 1/3 of the canoe.
After packing and when all people are on board, the canoe should lie roughly horizontal.
Packing a sea kayak
Always pack in smaller/small packing bags/bags, so that it can be packed completely out into the corners. There is a front hatch and a rear hatch in a sea kayak.
Heavy equipment (provisions and water cans) should preferably be in the hatches closest to the middle of the sea kayak. Medium-heavy equipment in waterproof bags (clothes, cooking equipment, etc.) should preferably come after that. Light equipment (tent, sleeping pad and sleeping bag in waterproof bag) is furthest from the center. Alternatively, equipment can also be strapped on top of the kayak…
