Favorite Multi-Day Trips

You start the trip from Åstedbro Teltplads, after which you sail towards Brestenbro. Here you will pass Gudenå Camping, where for a modest fee you can pay to moor at the site, which has a popular cafeteria you can visit – or enjoy a packed lunch. After this, the water becomes deeper and the river a little wider. Shortly after you have sailed under Bredvad Bro, you will come to Bredvad Sø, which you sail through and then keep to the right, where you will find Vestbirk Camping. The site is a lovely place to stay and spend some time enjoying the many activities.

On the second day, you start the day's sailing on one of the Gudenåen's most beautiful stretches, where you navigate through the exciting course at Vestbirk Søerne. We recommend that you take a break at Vestbirk Vandkraftværk, which is definitely worth a visit. After this, you sail through jungle-like vegetation, narrow passages and wide rapids. When you get to Voervadsbro Teltplads, it is a good idea to take a lunch break and enjoy a delicious meal at the restaurant Det Lille Røgeri. The last part of the day's trip goes to Klostermølle Teltplads, where you can explore the old paper mill. From here you will also find the path to Sukkertoppen, which is 108 meters high. From the top there is a magnificent view towards Mossø, and Salten Langsø can be glimpsed behind the forest to the north.

On the third day, you continue sailing on one of the most beautiful stretches of the Gudenåen, and if you want to see Øm Kloster Museum, you should keep to the right at the river's outlet in Gudensø. Here there is a landing place, from which there is a marked path connection to Øm Kloster. To reach your final destination, keep to the left in the river to get over to Birksø. Here a canal has been established for a short portage. Remember to use the canoe trolleys provided. You continue the trip towards Ry, where you can easily stock up on supplies so you are ready to spend the night at Alling Vest Teltplads, which is located in a nature reserve. It is the Gudenåen's only campsite without drinking water, so it is important to bring this. It is a completely unspoiled site and you will enjoy every second of your stay.

On the fourth day, you sail out onto the Silkeborg Søerne. Here you will pass Himmelbjerget, Slåensø and Paradisøerne. When you have sailed through Julsø, you will find three eateries: Traktørstedet Ludvigslyst, Ålekroen and Skyttehusets Café, and a lunch break is a good idea. If you have plenty of time, it is a good idea to sail into the secret Klüvers Kanal and sail around inside Avnsø/”Brillerne”, before sailing back and into Remstrup Å, where Gudenåens Camping is located in the area called Indelukket in Silkeborg. It is a real city campsite, where you can calmly enjoy the rest of the day close to Silkeborg Centrum, with a rich commercial and restaurant life.

On the fifth day, you continue to Kammerslusen, which you must sail through to continue north. On the trip you will pass Svostrup Kro, which is a great place to eat a delicious lunch. After this, you continue north, where you will pass the old monastery ruin at Tvilum, among other things. Your final destination is at Kongensbro Teltplads.
